Pre-predicting the Spring??

Screening date October 10th @3pm.
Tricycle cinema, London.
Tickets £7.50 (single), £18.00 (festival pass)

Only Sound Remains is a haunting glimpse into the human side of the protest barricade, it is gripping and gentle at the same time. It reflects the current situation in the middle east and reminds us all that no matter the statistic of violence at the softer end a family is always affected.

We spoke to the director Arash Ashtiani about the challenges of making the film.

In reflection to the current climate in the middle east, do you feel that your film in someway predicts the Arab spring reaching Iran?
As you may know people in Iran protested for 6 months after disputed presidential election two years ago.It was all happening before Arab spring and in a way I think in the start, Arab spring was influenced by Iran green movement. and also "only sound Remains" was shot before Arab spring.

Are you planning to screen it in Iran and do you feel that the film will be received well in there?
I'm not planning but I'd like to screen it there. I don't know how it'll be received really.

If not why not?
I believe that government doesn't like to remind people (of) those moments and (the) situation that they lived in for (a) couple of months.

Where was the film shot?
The film was shot in London. We tried to make the Interior of the location like Tehran.  That was the biggest challenge we had.

What was the total budget of the piece?
Total Budget was around £10,000.
Has it been screened anywhere else, what has been the general feedback?
Yes, It's been screened in some film festivals, and events.
The general feedback was long moments of silence.

What would you have done differently?
There were two sequences in the script that we didn't shot. I wish I had shot them, and I would have add more catastrophe in characters behaviour to bring the glimpse of what is going on in the street to the inside of the house.

Do you have any advise for aspiring film directors?
I'm too young to give anybody advise.
